It would seem as though vegetarians would have a lower chance of developing cancer since vegetables are so good for us. However, most studies have not supported this.

It may be that many vegetarians eat a lot of processed foods like cheese, breads and pastas and not so much of the actual fruit and vegetables. People who eat between 5 and 9 servings of fruit and vegetables per day do actually have a lower chance of developing cancers. Whether you eat meat or are a strict vegetarian, this is one habit worth starting.

Mediterranean diets seem to have some health benefits. People in the Mediterranean cook almost everything with olive oil and they consume high quantities of red wine. Extra virgin olive oil contains a variety of antioxidants; all of which remove the dangerous free radicals within our bodies. Red wine also contains antioxidants. It has been speculated that the phenols in red wine may help protect against breast cancer.
